A top London Heathrow Hotel contacted Coolmations Chiller Hire Division for assistance when their installed air conditioning water chillers failed and the possibility of an early repair or replacement was remote. With hot summer sunshine just around the corner and temperatures already rising in the restaurant and bar areas, a temporary solution which could be quickly implemented had to be sought.

In consultation with the client, Coolmation established that 250kW of temporary chilling would be required to maintain a comfortable environment throughout the summer months and for flexibility and ease of installation selected two CWA/EX 125 PowerCool chillers from their chiller hire fleet.

Each chiller is fully packaged with an integral water buffer tank and high pressure circulating pump. The two chillers were located at ground level and high pressure flexible pipe work and power cables were routed to the roof top plant room to be connected into the existing chilled water air handling units and electrical panels. The complete system was delivered, installed and commissioned by Coolmations Chiller Hire Division in 48hours.

In complete contrast, a re–equipped radar station on the east coast was in urgent need of additional cooling when required to go live and the newly installed close control air conditioning system could not be commissioned in time.

After a multi million pound refit and a small window of opportunity to get this critically situated radar station back on line, a temporary air conditioning system was the only solution.

Coolmation delivered and installed three of its modular 30kW Crestair chilled water air conditioning systems, each comprising a 30kW packaged water chiller and two 15kW chilled water fan coil units. All are quickly interconnected with high pressure flexible hoses with quick connect leak free couplings.

With 90kW of cooling in place, commissioning was able to proceed and for added security Coolmation installed one of its Chill Alert remote fault monitoring systems. A GSM based device, this monitors an ambient thermostat in the radar cabin and the general fault relay on each Crestair system. In the event of an alarm occurring, a text message is immediately dispatched to Coolmations 24/7 service desk and to the mobile phone of the radar stations duty technician, to ensure that any pending problems can be rapidly attended to.
